David has been creating since childhood, pursuing interests that varied across fields from puppetry to programming to printmaking, searching for a way to roll these interests together into a cohesive whole. Majoring in sculpture intermedia (the incorporation of mixed media, including video and electronics, into 3-dimensional design) at the University of Utah, he began to find ways to do just that.
In the process of exploring his mixed interests, David has obtained experience in painting, printmaking, video and photo editing, casting (investment, centrifugal, life castings, resins, silicone, paper pulp, latex), digital art, sculpture (additive and subtractive), welding, fabrication, papermaking, circuit design and programming, among other things.
His most recent works have focused on the relationship between the natural and manmade world, and the way people interpret, utilize, and often distort this relationship. His pieces, sometimes whimsical, other times frightening, occasionally merge elements from his time living in Mexico and Taiwan, along with concepts from the time he spent studying as a mechanical engineer
David is working freelance, and is happy to consider commissioned works or job inquiries.
